There is something undeniably satisfying about a perfectly executed camera move. One that glides, lands, and repeats with absolute accuracy. No wobble. No guesswork. Just engineered perfection. That is the power of motion control cameras, and it is now firmly part of Broadley Studios’ creative toolkit.
We work closely with Mark Roberts Motion Control, one of the most respected names in the industry, and our studio is equipped with two powerful cinematic tools: the MRMC StudioBot LT and the 2 metre MRMC QRS rail system. These systems are available individually and are used depending on the specific needs of a production.
It is precision engineering designed for creativity.

We work closely with Mark Roberts Motion Control, one of the most respected names in the industry.

The StudioBot LT is an advanced robotic camera arm capable of executing highly complex, multi-axis camera movements with exceptional accuracy. It is designed for shots that demand repeatability, fluid motion and tight control, often in three-dimensional space.
This makes it ideal for macro cinematography, tabletop product work, VFX plates, beauty content, automotive details, scientific visuals and intricate high-speed shots. It can perform delicate movements that are almost impossible to achieve consistently by hand.
Every move can be programmed, refined and repeated with frame-by-frame accuracy. That is what makes it such a powerful tool for visual effects, compositing and creative experimentation. Once a camera path is defined, it can be repeated exactly, again and again.
Which means a single scene can be shot in multiple passes, with different lighting states, elements or performances, while holding the exact same camera journey. In post-production, these elements can then be layered seamlessly, dramatically reducing complexity and increasing control.
It is not just smarter. It is cleaner. Faster. And far more flexible.
Alongside the StudioBot, Broadley is also equipped with a 2 metre MRMC QRS rail system. This is a high-precision linear track designed for smooth, straight-line camera movement. It is perfect for controlled tracking shots, horizontal reveals, timed pull-ins and sweeping lateral motion.
The QRS rail provides stable, programmable movement at consistent speeds, making it ideal for product cinematography, interviews, architectural passes, timelapse work and more traditional tracking shots where flawless consistency is key.
Because the rail is motorised and highly accurate, it removes micro-variation from human-operated dolly movements. This results in perfect repeatability, which is incredibly valuable for compositing and multi-pass workflows.
Although the QRS rail and StudioBot LT are separate systems, they sit within the same production environment, giving directors and cinematographers flexible options for different types of movement within the same shoot.

One of the biggest misconceptions about robotics is that they remove creativity. In reality, they create more room for it.
By taking away the mechanical pressure of hitting marks perfectly, motion control cameras allow directors and DoPs to focus entirely on storytelling, rhythm, lighting and emotion. Movements that would normally feel too risky or complex can be explored with confidence.
It also makes experimentation far more efficient. Once a move is programmed, variations can be tested quickly, angles refined, timings adjusted and ideas explored without resetting heavy physical rigs or exhausting a crew.
This is where precision meets play

One of the biggest misconceptions about robotics is that they remove creativity. In reality, they create more room for it.

Both the StudioBot LT and QRS rail integrate seamlessly into Broadley’s green screen and Virtual Production environment. This makes them especially powerful for projects involving compositing, digital backgrounds, layered scenes or dynamic virtual environments.
For filmmakers, brands and agencies, this opens up huge creative possibilities. Shots that feel cinematic and ambitious can now be produced within a controlled Central London studio, with less waste, less risk and greater consistency.
Our robotics and motion control cameras are available for hire with varying levels of technical support. Whether you need experienced operators, programming assistance or simply access to the equipment itself, we can tailor the setup to match your production.
Commercials. Music videos. Product campaigns. Film plates. Experimental visuals. If the project requires precision, consistency and a bit of controlled magic, motion control is where it starts.
At Broadley, the future is not just about bigger. It is about smarter, cleaner and more intentional filmmaking.
And sometimes that starts with a robot arm.
