The Challenge

Pure Sync embarked on this incredibly ambitious project to record 12 covers of these classic songs with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra – 50 world class musicians in none other than the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London – Studio 2 to be precise.

Combining the most famous recording studio in the world with one of the most prestigious orchestras in the world = I mean what did you think would come out of this collision of greatness = obviously more greatness.

The 12 tracks are:

1. Happy Together (Originally by The Turtles)
2. Reach Out Ill Be There (Originally by The Four Tops)
3. Mr Blue Sky (Originally by ELO)
4. Move On Up (Originally by Curtis Mayfield)
5. Les Fleurs (Originally by Minnie Ripperton)
6. What A Wonderful World (Originally by Louis Armstrong)
7. Let The Sunshine In (Originally by The 5th Dimension)
8. I’ll Stand By You (Originally by The Pretenders)
9. Get Ready (Originally by The Temptations)
10. Sunny (Originally by Boney M}
11. You To Me Are Everything (Originally by The Real Thing)
12. Everybody Wants To Rule The World (Originally by Tears for Fears)

The Covers Project

The idea and execution came from the experienced and creatively minded Julian Goodkind, CEO of Pure Sync and Cover Sauce, as part of his ongoing commitment to create Covers of the highest quality for the Global Sync Market specifically focused towards Advertising, TV shows, Films and Trailers.

Speaking to Julian, he explained the project took around six months from ideation to execution, picking the best songs, creating the arrangements – including all pre-production for the recording session, ensuring all elements were in place to guarantee perfect execution on the day.

He explained how the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra works - which, honestly, I had no idea. For these types of recordings, they don’t actually rehearse – they literally rock up on the day and led by the Conductor they play and record – pulling off these amazing covers in just a few takes.

A mind-blowing experience for all involved and I’m sure a super satisfying conclusion for Julian to see his idea come to fruition in such majestic form.

We at Broadley Studios had the good fortune to have front-row seats to this intimate recording session whilst filming the BTS footage – an unforgettable day for all indeed.

“Cover Source” has just over 16,000 Covers across all genres and styles available for licensing across all broadcast media – supported by award winning Music Supervision and Sync Licensing from “Pure Sync” www.puresyncinc.com

Julian explained that after coming up with the concept, he and his team worked tirelessly from the creative ideas to song selection, delivery, production, and recording, mixing and mastering - culminating in the project’s fruition. Always pushing the boundaries to ensure that they continue to create and record the highest level of Covers for the global sync market.

The goal? To open up even more opportunities for a song to be used. Sometimes, the original version of a song just doesn’t fit the creative vision of an Ad, TV show, or Film. But reimagining it - give it an orchestral treatment, a fresh arrangement - and suddenly, it becomes something entirely new. A song that might not have worked in its original form now feels tailor-made for a specific visual, enhancing the viewer’s experience and creating a unique sonic identity for the project.

Our Solution - And the Execution?

Absolutely unreal. 50 musicians - all in perfect harmony. Julian explained that what you hear on the final tracks is very close to what they heard in the room that day. Of course, there were some tweaks during Mixing and Mastering, but the essence remains untouched. It’s as if you were right there in Abbey Road, Studio 2, witnessing it all unfold in real-time.

One day, 12 tracks. A single, high-stakes session to capture every note, every nuance. No second chances, just pure musical precision.

The Results

Reflecting on the experience, Julian shared why Broadley Studios was the natural choice to shoot the behind-the-scenes footage... And of course, Abbey Road Studios was the only place to make this happen:

We’ve known each other forever, so it was an easy and natural collaboration. To be able to capture the essence of the day... that’s exactly what Broadley does best. Always super professional, always making the process seamless and painless.

For what we needed, Abbey Road was the best - no question. They’re masters at recording orchestras of this kind, and the sound they capture speaks for itself. Their team was incredible, making what was an intense, high-pressure day feel painless, enjoyable, and honestly, pretty unforgettable. It’s not every day you get an opportunity like this.

- Julian Goodkind, CEO of Pure Sync & Cover Sauce

After six months of planning - from song selection to arrangements - the final recordings are now out in the world.

Tracks like “Mr. Blue Sky”, “I’ll Stand By You”, and “Happy Together” to name a few have been delivered to the global sync market, reaching a global network eagerly awaiting them.

And as of February 6th, the highly anticipated masters are officially live.

This project wasn’t just about recording Covers for Pure Sync. It was about elevating them, transforming them, and ensuring they reach the right ears at the right moment.

Mission accomplished.
